Language Arts is one of my favourite areas to teach! We use many methods to teach language. The four strands in Language Arts are as follows: Writing, Reading, Oral and Visual Communication, and Media Literacy.
Frequent Websites Used:
Kids Dictionaries: EXPAND YOUR VOCABULARY! In this new technological age, I haven't used a paper dictionary to look up the meaning of a word! Learning alphabetical order is a valuable skill, and we can teach this in many ways. For easy e-dictionaries that students use in my class to expand their vocabulary and look up words, click on the links below! Wordsmyth.net Merriam Webster's Learners Dictionary
Kid's Search Engines There are many search engines you can use (besides GOOGLE) that are kid-friendly. Students need to learn the skill of researching facts on the internet. In order to do this independently, they need to understand what they are reading! This is vitally important. By using a search engine geared to children, you can do this easily! Personally, I enjoy using this one: Kiddle Search Engine (Google's Child!)
