Good Morning All!
As part of our math program, students will be introduced to TWO online sites this week for math: www.prodigyygame.com and www.khanacademy.org. As a parent, you have the choice whether or not you wish to sign up for these sites. As a teacher, I do believe and have seen the research that states that math scores have improved with usage of these sites.
These two sites are designed to be FUN, they are FREE, and they will help your child improve their confidence levels in learning math.
This week, I will send home a password sheet that contains our classroom codes for creating these accounts for your child. I would write their username and password for these sites on this paper, as students tend to forget them (as I do ALL the time!!).
Instructions for KHAN ACADEMY LOG INS:
This is my first year attempting to use KHAN ACADEMY as an educational tool. Below I have linked an instruction sheet on how to create Parent Accounts for Khan Academy. For your convenience, I have already started making usernames and passwords for the students in my class. All you have to do is SIGN in with the username and password (given to you on the sheet in front of your child's agenda) and then change their password to a more user friendly one. PLEASE add me as a coach so I can see your child's progress in math. They may be at a grade 5 level by the end of grade 3! This site is AWESOME for developing academic skills.
Instructions for Prodigy Log Ins:
Prodigy is super easy to log into! Just go to the website (link above), type the classroom code that is listed on your child's password sheet---and follow the instructions. Most children can do this!
I hope that you use this site as "extra homework" for your child. They will learn to love math!
Students are learning some GREAT apps this year. For more information on how to access or use these apps see this board website:
